Death Due Natural Causes

You are covered after a 6-month waiting period provided that you have paid your monthly premiums in full.

Suicide

You are covered after a 12-month waiting period provided that you have paid your monthly premiums in full.

Pays out in 24 hours

Payout of a valid claim will be made within 24 hours (business hours) from the moment your claim documents are received and approved.

Cover your spouse

Add your partner in marriage, legally recognised civil union, customary marriage or life partner of six months or longer. They will enjoy the same level of cover as you.

Children covered

Your biological, legally adopted, or step-children who are below the age of 18 years old.

We cover deaths of persons who are South African citizens regardless of the country in which the death occurs. Please note that we only cover deaths of foreigners which occur within the borders of South Africa, provided that you supply us with adequate proof.

What’s not covered?

The most common reasons for non-cover include claims directly or indirectly related to substance abuse, contravention of the law or suspected fraud, and death of a foreign citizen outside the borders of South Africa.

Keep your beneficiary up to date

In the event of the death of your spouse or child, you are the beneficiary. In the event of your death, the person who will receive the funeral benefit amount will be your nominated beneficiary. Your nominated beneficiary must have a valid South African bank account and it It is recommended that you nominate a person over the age of 18 (eighteen) years, to ensure that the benefit is paid directly to him/her. If your nominated beneficiary is under 18 (eighteen) years, the benefit will be paid to the nominated beneficiary’s legal guardian (whose status will need to be proven). You may change your nominated beneficiary at any time by informing us in writing or telephonically. In the absence of a nominated beneficiary, your spouse may receive the funeral benefit. If you do not have a spouse or children, the benefit may be paid in accordance with the Administration of Estate Act and or the Intestate Succession Act.
