What do you need to register?

Step 1

First make sure you have internet access.

Step 2

You will need a smartphone, a tablet or a computer

Step 3

Connect to the internet and go to vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za.
The welcome screen will guide you through the steps and this is what the demonstration team will show us shortly.

Step 4

It is important to follow the instructions and put in all the details the system asks for.

Step 5

When you are finished, the system will send an SMS to the phone number you provided. This SMS will confirm that you are registered. This means that the system now has your details in a queue to be scheduled for your vaccine.

Step 6

When it is your turn to be vaccinated, the system will send you another SMS with a date and the place where you will be vaccinated. If you put in the correct address, you will be sent to the vaccination centre that is closest to your home.

What to bring?

  • You need to bring your South African Identity Document (ID), passport or driver's license
  • Proof of vaccine eligibility
  • Your unique e-voucher code you received after registering on the EVDS system
  • Your medical scheme membership card if you are a member of a medical scheme

What to wear?

The nurse will need easy access to your non-dominant upper arm, so please wear clothing that will allow you to expose this area.

What to do if you experience difficulties

  • Contact the COVID-19 Hotline at 0800 029 999
  • A dedicated call centre for the EVDS is being finalised and that number will be announced and displayed on the EVDS portal when you register.

What to expect at the vaccination centre

  • Register for your vaccine.
  • Please get your appointment confirmation, proof of ID, EVDS e-voucher number and medical scheme membership card out if you have one.
  • Once you have registered, you will be seated in our waiting area. Please stay seated until it's your turn.
  • Move to your vaccination station where you will complete a short vaccination medical questionnaire and grant consent to be vaccinated.
  • The vaccinator will then administer your vaccine.
  • Relax in our observation area. You will need to remain here for a minimum of 15 minutes, and we'll let you know when you are able to leave.

Some centres may have long queues

  • Take a camping chair so you can rest while you wait
  • Take with water and snacks to keep your energy up
  • At the vaccination service point, the vaccination details of individuals will be recorded digitally, and individuals will be provided with a proof of vaccination card and will receive a confirmation SMS on their phone

What to expect after you've been vaccinated

Common symptoms after vaccination include pain, swelling and redness at the injection site, fever, headache, tiredness, abdominal or limb pain and other flu-like symptoms. These symptoms usually last 1-2 days.

If your symptoms persist contact your medical practitioner for advice.

What will the information you provide when registering be used for?

Information submitted during registration will be used to:

  • Identify eligible vaccination beneficiaries
  • Plan supply of vaccines and ancillary items
  • Allocate beneficiaries to their nearest available service point

Communicate with enrolled individuals about the vaccination program, including but not limited to:

  • Eligibility
  • Where they will be vaccinated
